Not all LANSTEA teas are certified organic — and for many of our small-producer teas, certification was never part of how they were originally grown or sold.

Much of the Chinese tea we source comes from small family farms and producers who have traditionally focused on their local or domestic market rather than export. International organic certification can require significant cost, documentation, and ongoing compliance, which is often unrealistic for producers working at a small scale.

For LANSTEA, the absence of an international organic certificate does not automatically disqualify a tea. We look more broadly at where the tea comes from, how it is produced, the producer behind it, its processing, and the quality of the finished cup.

In some cases, our role is simply to give an exceptional small producer access to a market they were never originally producing for.

Where a product does carry recognized organic certification, we state it clearly on the individual product page. Our Organic Matcha, for example, is certified under multiple organic standards.

For teas without organic certification, we do not describe them as certified organic. Instead, we focus on transparent origin, careful sourcing, and the actual character of the tea.

Keep the tea away from direct heat and sun, best kept in a cool location.

Our teas come in an eco-friendly paper canister—simply close the lid tightly after each use to preserve aroma and freshness.

When stored properly, opened tea can maintain excellent quality for at least one year.

Unopened canisters can be stored for up to three years without issue.
