Uji Matcha is crafted from shade-grown tencha leaves, traditionally cultivated to deepen flavor and preserve balance. Before harvest, the tea plants are carefully shaded, encouraging a richer concentration of chlorophyll and amino acids. The leaves are then gently steamed, dried, and stone-ground into an exceptionally fine powder—resulting in a matcha that is both vibrant and composed.
